Jungle Cruise officially leaving dock with Dwayne Johsnon

After 11 years of discussions, it looks like Disney’s Jungle Cruise is finally coming together.

Since 2006 Disney has been trying to put together a movie based on the Jungle Cruise ride from the parks. In 2015 it looked like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was going to join the production, but then things went silent again. On Friday it was again brought up and it looks as though the film will go into production, with Johnson, in early 2018.

I’m still a bit skeptical because Johnson’s schedule is beyond packed at the moment with Rampage up next, Skyscraper in the fall and then some press junkets. Never mind he is still attached to Doc Savage, he’s signed to Black Adam in Shazam, has a San Andreas 2 in the works and presumably Fast & Furious 9.

When does this man sleep?

How you turn the Jungle Cruise into a movie is still beyond me, but I’m sure Disney will find some way. No one thought they could do it with Pirates of the Caribbean, but a fifth movie is out this summer.

… and who can forget the Haunted Mansion movie?!? (Believe me… I’ve tried.)

No release date for Jungle Cruise yet, but my guess would be early 2019.
