It seems as though the 90s revival trend is getting another member as an 8-episode Roseanne revival is being shopped around.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sara Gilbert is currently spearheading a revival of the Roseanne sitcom. John Goodman and Roseanne Barr are both attached to the project, and Gilbert would do double duty as her character of Darlene and join the Executive producer troupe with Barr, Tom Werner and Bruce Helford.
Roseanne ran from 1988 to 1997 on ABC and garnered four Emmy wins. And if you think that no one is interested, word is that Netflix has entered a bidding war with ABC for the short return of this beloved sitcom., so it seems it’s just a matter of time before this comes together.
The ninth season of the series ended on an odd note with it being revealed that all of it had been the writings of Roseanne and that Dan (Goodman) had died of a heart attack. This brings up the question of how he could return, but Barr addressed this in a 2009 blog post saying what she thought happened to everyone should there ever be a reunion:
dj gets published
mark dies in iraq
david leaves darlene for a woman half his age
darlene meets a woman and they have a test tube baby
becky works at walmart
roseanne and jackie open the first medical marijuana dispensary in lanford illinois, and pay off the mortgage before the house is foreclosed on.
arnie becomes the best friend of the governor of Illinois
mom sells a painting for ten grand
nancy and arnie remarry
jerry and the grandsons form a band like the jonas brothers
dan shows up alive after faking his death.
leon has a sex change op.
bonnie gets busted for selling crack.
As I said above, get ready folks, it’s just a matter of time until this find a home.
At the rate 90s shows are being revived, where’s Cop Rock?
