First comes a Transformers movie. Then comes Michael Bay saying he’s done with the series. Then comes the news Michael Bay is back to direct another Transformers.
After each Transformers movie Michael Bay goes on the press tour and tells everyone how making these films takes so much out of him, and he’s going out with a bang and on and on. Speaking with Fandango recently, Bay dusted off this oldie but a goody.
These movies that I’ve done, they are massive movies. They take a lot out of you. I’ve done it enough, and I’ve had a great time doing it. I’m going out with a bang on this one, and I feel like you gotta go out while you’re ahead, you know. I think I’ve had a good run, and I’ve got a lot of other movies I want to do.
Here’s the thing, Paramount and Hasbro don’t want May to go anywhere. Lets take a look at the box office of each film.
|Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen||$402,111,870||$434,191,823||$836,303,693||$200,000,000|
|Transformers: Dark of the Moon||$352,390,543||$771,403,536||$1,123,794,079||$195,000,000|
|Transformers: Age of Extinction||$245,439,076||$858,614,996||$1,104,054,072||$210,000,000|
As much as these movies suck – and they really do – they make money. A lot of money. Paramount will back a truck of money up to his house and try to lure him back. They also allow him to go off and do movies such as Pain & Gain and 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.
There is no doubt that these movies take a lot of work, but who walks away from a deal like this?
We’ll see what happens, but something tells me Bay isn’t done quite yet.
