When Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters this fall we may be in big building moments towards the end of Phase 3.
There are only two films left until we get to Avengers: Infinity War that will begin the end of Phase 3 of the MCU and conclusion of the story arc of the first 22 films. Speaking with The Toronto Sun, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that the groundwork begins with the third solo outing for Thor.
I think that we are finding ourselves as we complete Phase 3 and finish this 22-movie narrative that it’s working out that way. We did three Iron Man films, three Captain America films, three Thor films. Things change drastically in Ragnarok and then build directly into Infinity War.
We still have yet to see the sixth Infinity Stone – the orange Soul Stone – and with only Black Panther to go after the third Thor, it only makes sense this is where we will see the final stone. We need them all in place before Thanos attempts to collect them for his gauntlet.
With Loki in play in this film, and seen speaking with The Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), my guess is that there will be some sort of wager for Infinity Stones. With Loki pretending to be Odin, that puts him in command the Asgardian vault where the Tesseract (Space Stone) resides. This would give the winner of their wager in possession of two of the six stones. What cosmic-based Marvel entity wouldn’t want that?
It isn’t like you weren’t planning to see Thor: Ragnarok when it hits theaters on Nov. 3, but it’s beginning to feel like this will be an important entry in the series.
