Logan Lucky screenwriter may not exist

Here is one of those Hollywood stories: Who exactly wrote Logan Lucky?

Logan Lucky is the upcoming movie directed by Steven Soderbergh and written by newcomer Rebecca Blunt.

Small problem… Rebecca Blunt doesn’t seem to exist.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the story on Thursday. Things started to get suspicious when the press kit for the film contained only a bare bones cast list and there is no interview junket planned for the film. Sources say that the cast – including the likes of Channing Tatum, Adam Driver and Daniel Craig – emailed with Blunt who reportedly lived in the U.K., but the screenwriter never visited the set.

Who did visit the set everyday? Jules Asner, former E! Network host and the wife of Soderbergh. This has led many to suspect she was the actual screenwriter despite having never worked in film. Others suspect it was actually Soderbergh.

Later in the day The Playlist stepped in with further information that it is indeed Asner who penned the script and the ruse was set up so as not to distract from the film and the launch of Soderbergh’s new iIngerprint Releasing company.

Whomever did write this, it looks amazing and I can’t wait to see it. The mystery of the writer just adds to the fun for me.

Logan Lucky hits theaters on Aug. 18.
