Despite less than spectacular reactions to the trailers for The Inhumans, or lowish ratings for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it seems that Marvel and ABC want to keep going at it.
Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Thursday, Marvel Television’s senior vp of original programming Karim Zreik gave some hints as to what may be coming down the road. “Comedy is something we really want to go into. It took us time to dip our foot in the comedy pool.” She did, however, make it clear they will “never do an office comedy.”
Zreik also hinted that something female-centric may be on the way, simply saying “it’s Jessica Jones-esque.” Considering the number of powerful female heroes in Marvel Comics, the mind boggles at who it may be. And there’s always a chance they create something original, but that seems silly and unlikely, to be honest.
Between in-production and upcoming series, Marvel TV has 14 series in the pipeline currently, and it doesn’t appear that will be slowing down any time soon.
