Apparently, people were ready for a dose of horror at the box office.
It came in at the top of the box office for a second weekend with $60M. Domestically it sits at $218.71M, and with its foreign haul of $152.6M for a global total of $371.31M off of a $35M budget.
Second place went to American Assassin with an opening weekend tally of $14.8M off of a $33M budget.
mother! opened in third place with just $7.5M off of a $30M budget. The reviews are good, but audiences gave it the nearly unheard of CinemaScore of an ‘F.’
Fourth place went to Home Again with $5.33M for a new domestic total of $17.13M off of a $12M budget.
The Hitman’s Bodyguard rounded out the top five with $3.55M for a new domestic total of $70.35M off of a $30M budget.
Major releases this week include Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Friend Request and Ninjago.
