Spending on original streaming content to skyrocket

Because there isn’t already enough to watch on TV, it’s time for spending to skyrocket even higher.

According to a new report, Apple is set to accelerate its spending on original content from $500M to $4.2B by 2022. That’s a staggering amount, but it still isn’t the highest projection.

Amazon, which is a company a lot of people still don’t realize do original programming, is said to be aiming to spend $8.3B by 2022. Of course, with its recent pickup of a Lord of the Rings series, who knows how much of that projection is just that show.

Mind you, Netflix is already targeting $8B next year, so who knows where it will be by that same time period.

As someone who watches a lot of these original shows, I can’t take any more on. Enough already! Let me have some time to breathe and catch up.
