The Disney & Fox combined movie schedule will make your head spin

Should the Disney acquisition of Fox go through, the movie theaters better get used to sending them checks.

One of the biggest hurdles to the Disney/Fox merger is how much of the box office the company would now control. Going by just the currently announced films, the schedule is insane.

Before you look through it, do keep in mind the deal is expected to take 12 to 18 months to close, so 2018 may not be a factor.

2018

2019

2020

2021

Should this deal go through, my feeling is the Untitled Fox Marvel films will be removed from the schedule in their current form. Marcel Studios is going to want to get involved, and I have a sneaky hunch the X-Men films will be rebooted, which, good. Their timeline is a complete mess at this point. I would also suspect the Avatar films will be moved around to make room for Star Wars in Decembers. I highly suspect the films will move back there with the exception of Solo: A Star Wars Story.

We’ll see where this goes, but if these companies do become one, it’s going to be a brave new world at the theaters.
