To absolutely no one’s surprise, Star Wars The Last Jedi made some money this weekend.
Everyone knew Last Jedi would take in some money, the only question was how much. While it did come in under The Force Awakens opening weekend of $247.96M, it still took in a very healthy $220M for the second biggest domestic opening ever. Using a 3x multiplied formula for films opening over $200M, it looks like the film will come in somewhere between $750M to $830M when its run ends.
Foreign box office came in very healthy with $220M for a $450M global opening. The foreign markets broke down as:
Adding more fuel to all of this, Last Jedi doesn’t open in China until Jan. 5, so expect numbers to skyrocket over the coming weeks.
