After years of talk, the Hasbro Cinematic Universe is finally setting some dates for its first films.
Hasbro has been talking about a combined universe for G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Visionaries and ROM for years now, but things didn’t seem to move for some time. Back in Oct. 2016 I actually did an interview with the company as to the status, and there wasn’t much to tell yet. Now it seems things are moving forward.
On Monday Paramount announced a new G.I. Joe movie is coming on March 27, 2020. It isn’t known yet if this will be a reboot or if it will acknowledge the first two films. This will then be followed up by Micronauts on Oct. 16, 2020. A third, untitled film, is dated for Oct. 1, 2021.
Mixed amongst these releases is a new Dungeons & Dragons film set for July 23, 2021. There has been one previous D&D film 17 years ago that bombed, so this will clearly be a new start.
Can a Hasbro Cinematic Universe work? We’re going to finally find out, but I’m sure hoping so as I love all of the toys involved.
