T’Challa isn’t only the king of Wakanda, but also of the box office.
Black Panther overperformed in its opening weekend beating all of the estimated openings to come in with $192M domestically. Combined with its foreign haul it already sits at $361M.
Second place went to Peter Rabbit with $17.25M for a new domestic total of $48.22M off of a $50M budget.
Fifty Shades Freed landed in third place with $16.94M for a new domestic total of $76.13M and a global total of $266.93M off of a $55M budget.
Fourth place went to Jumanji with $7.94M. It now sits at $377.62M domestic and $904.62M global off of a $90M budget.
The 15:17 to Paris rounded out the top five with $7.68M and a new domestic total of $25.43M off of a $30M budget.
The major releases this week are Annihilation and Game Night.
