Fox open to a Buffy, the Vampire Slayer revival

Fox isn’t afraid of revivals, and it seems that Buffy, the Vampire Slayer is at least on its list of possibilities.

With shows like Prison Break and The X-Files already being brought back by Fox, talk has turned to what could be next. Speaking at the INTV Conference, Fox group chai Gary Newman shared some thoughts on Buffy. “‘Buffy’ is probably the most ripe show we have for bringing back.” He went on to add, “It’s something we talk about frequently, and Joss Whedon is really one of the greatest creators we ever worked with. When Joss decides it’s time, we’ll do it. And until Joss decides its time, it won’t happen.”

Can we just not? Buffy, as is, is awesome and still has enough of a following from syndication and home video sales that we don’t need a new version. It would have to be a reboot at this point, and that would be even worse than a revival. Just try to come up with something original instead of yet another retread of a beloved property.

Although keep in mind, folks, if the sale to Disney goes through the House of Mouse will then own the rights to Buffy. Now I might push for her to be made a Disney Princess…
