Black Panther didn’t win this weekend, but that didn’t stop it from breaking even more records at the box office.
After six weeks in release, Black Panther is slowing down, but it still took in enough to hit a new domestic total of $630.91M making it the highest grossing comic book adaptation in the U.S. Second place is the first Avengers film which took in $623.35M. This new total for Black Panther also places it as the fifth highest grossing film of all time in the U.S.
On the global front it places it 12th on the all-time list with a global haul of $1.332B. It still has some juice in it and should break into the top 10 which currently is blocked by Frozen at $1.276B.
No projected release date has been announced for Black Panther 2 as of yet, but one has to imagine that it has become a high-priority at Marvel and one has to figure it’s coming sooner rather than later.
