The DC film universe seems to finally be making a turn buff.ly/2mAxA1t https://t.co/028L3WNyQR
Y: The Last Man has a pilot order, but I wouldn’t hold your breath quite yet.
In the content hungry world we live in, it’s amazing that Y: The Last Man hasn’t happened yet, but it hasn’t been from a lack of trying. I’ve given up keeping track of all the false starts this property has had, but something tells me it’s going to happen this time. FX has given a pilot order to an adaptation that will be simply titled Y.
Y: The Last Man was created by Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra and ran for 60 issues under DC’s Vertigo imprint starting in 2002. The series tells the story of Yorick who wakes up one morning to find that all living mammals with a Y chromosome have died. The only other male left alive is Yorick’s Capuchin monkey named Ampersand. In other words, it’s a rich canvas for a TV show and should fit in on FX perfectly.
It’s not quite clear why this property hasn’t worked before, but Aida Mashaka Croal is attached and already has some success over on Netflix with Luke Cage. Fingers crossed this is the time that this great series finally comes to live-action.
