Never let the fact that Marvel hasn’t even confirmed a Black Widow solo movie to get in the way of a good rumor.
Fans have long been calling for Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow to get her own movie, but Marvel Studios kept putting it off. Right now the studio is keeping quiet about its post-Avengers 4 plans, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, a director has been chosen for a Widow film.
Australian Cate Shortland doesn’t have a long resume, and actually doesn’t even have Hollywood representation. With somewhere around 75 directors being considered, Johansson apparently threw her vote towards Shortland after seeing her film Lore.
As to what we can expect from the film is anyone’s guess. Some rumors have suggested it would take place prior to our meeting her in Iron Man 2, but we’ll have to wait and see. That would actually be a fun time period due to her spy status, the possibility of some S.H.
