Patrick Stewart Returns to the Role of Picard

Who cares about timelines now… Patrick Stewart is back as Capt. Picard!

Making a surprise appearance at a Star Trek convention in Las Vegas on Saturday, Stewart confirmed weeks of rumors that he was returning to the role of Capt. Jean-Luc Picard. The yet-to-be-named series will air on CBS All Access alongside Star Trek: Discovery.

The news was accompanied by one fact that the new series will be set 20 years after the end of The Next Generation. There was no news however as to whether Picard is still a captain, promoted to admiral, retired and so on. Seeing as Patrick Stewart is now 78-years-old, it’ll be interesting to see where they take these stories.

Color me intrigued, but also very cautious about how this could go.
