Something went horribly wrong at the box office this week… a sequel wasn’t the top film.
First place went to The Meg with $44.5M domestically and globally has hit $141.5M off of a $130M budget. I’m still not sure what they were thinking with that budget, but we’ll see where this goes.
Mission: Impossible – Fallout came in second this weekend with $20M. Domestically it now sits at $161.96M and globally it has hit $437.56M off of a $178M budget.
Third place went to Disney’s Christopher Robin which took in $12.43M. Domestically it now sits at $50M and internationally is now at $62.11M.
Slender Man opened in fourth place with $11.32M off of a $10M budget.
Fifth place went to BlacKkKlansman with $10.79M off of a $15M budget.
This week’s releases include Crazy Rich Asians, Alpha, and Mile 22.
