After taking some detours with Annabelle and The Nun, it’s time to get back to the main series. Series producer Peter Safran is saying that The Conjuring 3 will go into production in 2019 for a 2020 release.
Speaking with Cinema Blend, Safran said, “It’s actually coming along great. David Leslie Johnson is working on the screenplay, and I feel pretty confident they will have that one up and running next year.”
Johnson wrote the second film and will now serve as a producer along with James Wan and Safran. It is unknown if Wan will again direct, but he did run the show on the first two films. Of course, that was before he headed out to direct epics such as the upcoming Aquaman.
If you keep the budget low on these it’s like printing money. While a lot of film series lose their way to constantly rising budgets, this series seems to keep a good financial head on its shoulders.
