On Thursday Disney finally made it official that its upcoming streaming service will be named Disney Plus. This has been rumored for some time now, but its official with a logo and everything now.
With that news also came some other interesting information. First up, the rumored Marvel Cinematic Universe series appear to be happening. The only one named officially so far was one for Loki with Tom Hiddleston reprising his role. There have been rumors of a Scarlet Witch series as well as one focusing on Winter Soldier & Falcon, but neither of those were confirmed yet.
Star Wars The Mandalorian is currently in production, and it seems another Star Wars series is on the way. Lucasfilm confirmed on Thursday that Cassian Andor from Star Wars Rogue One will be getting his own series. Diego Luna will reprise the role as well. Seeing how the film ended this will have to be a prequel for sure. No mention if Alan Tudyk would return as K-2SO, but considering the droid’s popularity that seems like Disney would try for sure.
As much as Rogue One wasn’t great, I still enjoyed it. It was also clear that Cassian had a lot of past to his life, and I’m curious to see where this goes.
The bad news is that Disney Plus won’t launch until late 2019, so it feels like a lot of these projects won’t be seen until some time in 2020. Honestly, that’s fine. As I’ve said recently, there is just too much to watch any more. As a fan of all these properties, I’m sure to want to watch them all… like I really need more to watch?
