When does a TV cast get too big? buff.ly/2NnI0Oz
Lets face it, The Goldbergs are a nostalgia train. Sure, it has your normal sitcom antics, but at its core, if you have fond memories of the 1980s, you need to be watching it.
Typically throughout my work day I have something playing int he background. From podcasts to TV, there’s usually something on. What I do need, however is something I don’t need to focus on, so I go through a lot of stuff a second time. Right now I’m on my second go with The Goldbergs.
While the entire cast is talented, in particular, I am constantly amazed by Wendi McLendon-Covey (Beverly Goldberg). Her comedic timing is just beauty to behold. Timing is one of those things that simply can’t be taught, and she wields it like a master.
Jeff Garlin (Murray) is such an underrated actor. I will never understand why he doesn’t get more work. And, well, George Segal is a national treasure anyway.
None of this is to take away from the actors for the kids. They’ve all grown with the show and get better with each season, but when you’re working with three masters of their craft, it’s easy to see how they get overshadowed at times.
This really is just one of those random recommendations if you’re looking for something to throw on in the background, give the show a shot. I think you won’t be disappointed.
