Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker trailer

You knew I had to discuss Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker. Sure I discussed it professionally, but as a life long fan?

It punched me in the feels with that shot of Leia (Carrie Fisher) hugging Rey (Daisy Ridley). Knowing this is unused footage and they are trying to honor her, and… yeah I teared up. Get over it.

Our saga is coming to an end folks. Nine films. 42 years. We’re in the final turn and we can close the door on the Skywalker saga.

It seems fitting we closed with Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) laughing. I have no clue how he will play into this, but it makes sense he is still connected in some way.

Other things of note:

Now, on to a theory… the title doesn’t refer to a person. ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’ Note how it’s singlular. Jedi and Sith are singular as well. My theory is at the end of all this, Rey will form a new group of Force users. One that does not follow the rules of either group, but blends them. And she will say something all the lines of, “We waren’t Jedi… we are Skywalker.”

As I said, total guess.

Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on Dec. 20, 2019.
